PART 1; KRISHNA, LOVE RE-INVENTED AT KL PAC WAS A SENSATIONAL SUCCESS!

KEE@FSWMAG.COM
LAST NIGHT 5 MARCH, I ATTENDED THE GALA PREMIERE OF KRISHNA, LOVE RE-INVENTED (ODISSI) WHICH WAS PART OF SUTRA FOUNDATION ANNUAL FUND-RAISING EVENT WITH FAMOUS ACTRESS, PRODUCER AND MISS MALAYSIA/INTERNATIONAL 1979 NANCIE FOO, MRS UNIVERSE 2013/14 CAROL LEE, FASHION DESIGNER CARVEN ONG, EDMUND, FASLI, ARCHITECT HONG AND BUSINESSMAN HON TIAN HAUR.

This stunning show will run from 5 March to Sunday 9 March 2014 so get your tickets now at www.sutrafoundation.org.my or 03-4021 1092

As usual, Sutra Foundation lived up to its reputation as the best performing arts centre with a superb and sensational repertoire that showed the sublime beauty of Odissi at its sublime best!

The theatre at KL PAC was packed to the rafters which was very encouraging as it showed more Malaysians were keen to ensure the survival of our national dances, made more amazing as this Indian dance dedicated to Krishna, the pastoral god of love, was arranged and choreographed by a Malay, Dato Ramli Ibrahim!

The cast was mostly Indians and the sole Chinese dancer was Tan Mei Mei though the ravishingly pretty Divya Nair is a Chindian (Chink and Indian).

Dato Ramli Ibrahim in his welcome speech thanked Toh Puan Mahani, wife of former Finance Minister Tun Daim Zainuddin, Datin Sunita Rajakumar, Datuk Norliza Rofli, Sivarajah Natarajah, Ministry of Culture, Astro, Better Malaysia Foundation, Berjaya Foundation, ConocoPhilips, Halliburton and We Are Family under Nancie Foo.

Krishna is the God-Lover surrounded by the Gopis, he is the pastoral god and cowherd, born dark as rain cloud with eyes like lorus, wearing a gold crown with peacock feathers and adored by all.

Dato Ramli Ibrahim was in his element, first as a devotee dancing with Krishna and the Gopis and in the second act as a manifestation of Krishna as he appeared wearing an identical crown as Krishna.

One did not need to know Hinduism or understand the layers of meaning of sacred temple dances to appreciate and enjoy another masterpiece from Dato Ibrahim Ramli's endless oeuvre and I thoroughly enjoyed the evening.

SHOWTIME!
Jagathyswara was the absolutelyb perfect choice for the role of Krishna as this 25 year old maestro looked the part, with undiluted boyish charm, youthful appeal and ageless beauty. His chiseled features and smiling demeanour wowed the audience!
Jagatheyswara was the perfect embodiment of the pastoral god Krishna as he dances with the luscious and lovely Gopis
