Pledges to Plant Vegetables and Herbs in
Its Garden

BEST WESTERN PREMIER Dua Sentral in collaboration with youths from iM4U recently organized the planting of local vegetables and herbs in its garden. This is part of the hotel’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative for its employees in a bid to reduce carbon footprints while creating awareness and encouraging the planting of vegetables and herbs.

Employees from various departments of the hotel traded in a morning’s work to prepare and plant local vegetables and herbs in their garden. With youths from iM4U providing guidance, BEST WESTERN PREMIER Dua Sentral’s employees got their hands dirty planting vegetables like eggplant, chili, tomato, long bean, cucumber and various herbs. During the 2 days, employees were taught to grow and care for these plants.

“The process of creating the garden took approximately 2 months of planning. It was a unique process which required innovative thinking from the team at BEST WESTERN PREMIER Dua Sentral with assistance from 'Youth from iM4U'," said Executive Chef Jaffery Othman whose garden is his brainchild.

From now on, under the leadership of the hotel’s Executive Chef Jaffery Othman and his team of dedicated employees, the garden will be reviewed thrice daily to ensure it is healthy and bountiful. Eventually the vegetables and herbs will be served in the staff canteen.

Efny Johan, Director Brand Management Group said, “This is iM4U’s first collaboration with BEST WESTERN PREMIER Dua Sentral and we are looking forward to a long and fruitful association. We are pleased an established organisation like BEST WESTERN PREMIER Dua Sentral is willing to provide the students with opportunities to share their knowledge and expertise. We also hope to implement this initiative to other BEST WESTERN’s hotels in Malaysia."

iM4U is a non-profit organization that helps  nurture and cultivate volunteerism and social responsibility among Malaysian youths. It aims to foster a socially responsible generation.
