YTM Tunku Dato’ Seri Ahmad Nerang ibni Almarhum Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj, the son of the nation’s founding father, has formally joined IDEAS as Special Advisor.

Tunku Nerang and his wife Datin Seri Liliana have been long-standing supporters of IDEAS’ commitment to revive the vision of Almarhum Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra.

Last year I attended a concert by the Negeri Sembilan Students’ Association at Universiti Putra Malaysia which included a memorable performance of nine long-barrelled drums ordered by size, accompanied by a gong and a flautist-singer. This was a Gordang Sambilan troupe, and I was told that these musicians were the incumbents from a lineage long based in a certain part of Selangor.

A retired consul, he was called back in 458 to serve as dictator when the republic was under threat from foreign enemies.
